The Elk River wrestlers lost in the first round of Section 7AAA to Coon Rapids 37-26 on Friday at St. Francis.
The Elks, who had beaten Coon Rapids in conference when the Cardinals were missing two regulars, finished duals 12-9. Section individuals will be held Friday and Saturday at Coon Rapids.
St. Michael-Albertville, the top seed, emerged as section champion.
The Elks started 12-0 with pins by Anthony Meiser and Garrett Caldon at 106 and 113. Coon Rapids won the next six and took control. Other wins for the Elks were pins by A.J. Hannan at 182 and Bobby Schmitz at 220, and a decision by Ryan Osberg.
Losing decisions were Ben Gibas (120), Kyle Ziemer (132), Sam Gibas (145), and Casey Schiltz (152). Losing by major decision were Cole Moening (126) and Michael Young. The Cardinals got a tech fall again Andy Perry (138) and pins against Brendan Simmonds (195) and Steve McGuire (285).
