Basketball: Maple Grove clips Elk boys 66-54

The Maple Grove Crimson stymied the Elk River Elks 66-54 on Friday evening in Maple Grove, avenging an earlier loss to the Elks.

Clay Elrod scored 22 points for the Elks (9-7 conference, 15-7 overall), with Mitchell Weege next with eight points.

The Crimson, who lost at Elk River 58-47 on Jan. 3, improved to 10-7 in NWSC and 15-8 overall.

The Elks shot 21-for-47 from the floor, 3-for-13 on three’s, and 9-for-14 at the line.

The Elks will play at Osseo on Tuesday.
