Rogers’ Triple-A picks are Sporer, Benz

Julia Sporer and Andrew Benz are Rogers High School’s nominees for the Triple A awards given to seniors for achievement in athletics, arts and academics.

Sporer was a four-year starter in tennis and had a 24-2 record in doubles this fall (with Rachel Dodd). Her arts activities are making jewelry and, outside of school, dancing with a studio and teaching ballet.

Andrew Benz

She has a 3.6 GPA, and plans to major in engineering. She’s leaning toward St. Catherine’s.

Benz is in cross country runner and track, and plays alto and tenor saxophone in the symphonic band and jazz band. He also plays guitar and piano and enjoys composing music. He has a 3.4 GPA and plans to attend St. Cloud State and study microbiology and music composition.

Triple A is a Minnesota State High School League program. Section and state winners are chosen from the nominees made by schools.
