Basketball: Becker downs Thunder boys 61-44

The Zimmerman Thunder sputtered in both halves and lost to the Becker Bulldogs 61-44 at home on Monday evening.

The Thunder, who beat Becker 70-62 there Dec. 6, fell to 6-3 in the Granite Ridge and 9-12 overall. Becker is 6-4 in conference and 10-9 overall.

Michael Veldman and Josh Nohner sank 16 points each for Becker (6-4 conference, 10-9 overall) as the Bulldogs squared accounts with the Thunder after losing to them 70-62 at home Dec. 6.

Zimmerman trailed 24-17 at halftime, pulled within 26-24 early in the second half, then fell back as Becker steadily expanded their lead.

Kristian Bright scored 21 points for the Thunder (6-3 conference, 9-12 overall).

The Thunder will play at Little Falls on Thursday.
