Zimmerman’s shooters caught fire in the second half as the Thunder blew past the Milaca Wolves 68-49 on Friday evening at home.
Most of the offense came from forward Kristian Bright with 26 points and senior guard Max McNulty with 25, including seven 3-point shots.
The Thunder trailed 29-22 at halftime, due to shaky shooting and numerous turnovers, but somehow the switch was flipped in the second half. With an elevated energy level, torrid shooting and continued stingy defense, they got the crowd in the game and outscored the Wolves 46-20.
The Thunder are 6-2 in conference and 9-10 overall, with three wins in their last four games, on the heels of a five-game losing streak.
Milaca fell to 2-6 in conference and 7-7 overall.
Zimmerman has a doubleheader at North Branch on Saturday with a girls game at noon and boys at 2 p.m.
Zimmerman scoring — Kristian Bright 26, Max McNulty 25, Noah Lunning 5, Tyler Theisen 4, Kody Dwyer 4, David Molinari 2, Mack Riley 2.
