Hockey: Elk girls lose to Crimson with 2 seconds left

Maple Grove scored with two seconds on the clock to beat Elk River-Zimmerman 5-4 on Wednesday evening in Maple Grove.

Hailey Herdine delivered the buzzer-beating game-winner for the Crimson, her second goal of the game.

Kaylee Forster knocked in two goals for the Elks. Emily Heid notched one goal and assisted on the other three. Abbie Canton had the other goal.

Tiffany LaFontaine was in the nets for the Elks, stopping 20 of 25.

The Elks fell to 6-6-4 in the NWSC and 12-8-4 overall with one conference came left, against Andover at home Saturday, 7 p.m.

Maple Grove is 13-2-2 in conference, with two wins over the Elks, and 16-5-2 overall. The Crimson trail Blaine, the leader at 14-2-1.
