Basketball: Thunder girls win 93-36 at Mora, set record

The Zimmerman Thunder set a school scoring record in a 93-36 win over the Mora Mustangs at Mora on Saturday.

“It was a fun game for the Thunder,” said coach Lance Dalbey. “This helps us get ready for the home stretch as we enter the final 10 games of the season. ¬†We were able to really work on some things that we wanted to get in for the last half of the season.”

Senior guard Lexi Funaro scored 26 points on 11-for-15 shooting. Cami Bond had 14 points (2-for-2 on three’s), 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Brooke Borchardt scored 9, Alexis Olerich 8, Bailey Engelkes 8, Sabrina Steinke 7, and Amanda Rodriguez 7. Steinke also took 2 charges.

The Thunder (5-2 conference, 10-6 overall) had 25 steals which they parlayed into several transition baskets. They had 59 points at halftime and didn’t press in the second half.
Mora fell to 3-13.

Zimmerman will play at Milaca on Thursday.
