Hockey: Elk girls tie Coon Rapids 2-2

Elk River-Zimmerman skated to a 2-2 tie with a struggling Coon Rapids team Saturday afternoon on the Cardinals’ ice.

Cardinal goalie Ali Weber stopped 28 of 30 shots, with McKenna Wesloh scoring for the Elks in the first period and Abbie Canton in the third.

Canton’s goal, at 1:07 of the period, tied the score at 2-2, with Breanna Simon assisting.

Michaela Gould saved 11 of 13 shots for the Elks. Allie Stalboerger (power play) and Bryna DelCastillo had the Cardinals goals.

The Elks are 6-5-4 in conference and 12-7-4 overall. Coon Rapids is 1-11-3 and 3-16-3. The Elks won the first meeting 4-0.

Two games remain in the regular season. The Elks will play at Maple Grove on Tuesday and will host Andover on Saturday.
