The Elk River Farmers Market is seeking vendors for the 2014 season.

Downtown opened up, giving a new view of businesses along Main Street from Highway 10. It also paved the way for a farmers market.

The market will be open from 2-6 p.m. Thursdays from June 26 through Oct. 2 in downtown Elk River. Vendor applications are available online at www.elkrivermn.gov, or for more information contact Karen Wingard at kwingard@elkrivermn.gov or at 763-218-2662.

Wingard, who coordinates the market for the city, said there were 25 vendors last year. The farmers market site can accommodate up to 34.

“My goal is that people who come to the market can get everything they need for a complete meal,” Wingard said.

Wingard also noted that she’s had a lot of requests from shoppers for certified organic foods.

This will be the market’s third season in downtown Elk River at 716 and 720 Main, next to Elk River Meats.

Before moving downtown, the market had been in the Westbound Liquor parking lot.
