Hockey: Elk girls defeat North Metro 6-2

Five players scored goals for Elk River-Zimmerman as the Elks rolled 6-2 over last-place North Metro Stars on Tuesday evening in Brooklyn Park.

Raelyn Korinek knocked in two goals for the Elks, both in the second period.  Abbie Canton and Shae McLean scored in the first period. On power plays, McKenna Wesloh struck in the second period and Emily Heid in the third period.

Canton assisted on three goals, Heid on two, and McLean, Drea Westgaard, Kaylee Forster, Jessa Sailor, Mandy Sailor and Annie Dalton one each.

The Elks had 67 shots on goal to North Metro’s 19. Michaela Gould made 17 saves.

Leah Younkers and Tatum Manning scored for North Metro (0-14 NWSC, 3-18 overall).

The Elks, now 6-4-3 in the NWSC and 12-6-3 overall, will host Blaine on Wednesday evening.
