Taylor Anderson led with 21 points as the Rogers Royals beat a good Chisago Lakes team 67-58 on the Wildcats’ court to open conference play Friday evening.
Taylor Paulsrud added 14 points and Bailey Miller 13 for the Royals, now 7-3 overall with four straight wins.
Bryanna Fernstrom, 6-foot-5 center, scored 27 points for Chisago Lakes (7-2), which was missing its regular point guard.
“We tried man-to-man but went to a 2-3 zone so we could collapse on Fernstrom,” said Rogers coach Karlee Anderson. “We knew we could press their guards, with their starting point guard out, and we got a lot of turnovers from them.”
Rogers made 14 steals, she added.
Anderson and Paulsrud each sank three 3-points shots as the Royals were 7-for-18 outside the arc. They were 14-for-21 at the line and 23-for-61 from the field.
Rogers will host Buffalo on Tuesday.
