Gymnastics: Elks top Coon Rapids, are 4-0 in duals

Elk River-Rogers-Zimmerman broke out some new moves and stayed unbeaten in dual meets beating Coon Rapids 135.5 to 120.6 at home Thursday evening.

Katie Fleck scored 35.175,  Krista Kovar 34.85 and Corryn Stelflug 31.75 to lead the Elks, with Fleck and Kovar each winning two events. Caitlyn Reeves placed third in both floor exercise and balance beam.

“The girls have been working hard on new skills,” said coach Jackie Deiley, mentioning a tsukaraha vault by Reeves and straddle back on bars by Fleck as examples. “We missed those two days of school (because of extreme cold), but in the one day we had to practice, we worked on a lot of things, and the girls pulled it off tonight.”

The Elks are 4-0 in dual meets, extending their win streak to 46 straight over six seasons.
Next for the Elks is Park Center there Thursday.
