Kaylee Forster scored both goals, one with 43 seconds left to force overtime, as Elk River-Zimmerman salvaged a 2-2 tie with Armstrong/Cooper on Saturday evening in Robbinsdale.
Forster, senior defenseman, scored in the second period (Abbie Canton assisting) to knot the score 1-1, and again on a power play at 16:17 of the third period (McKenna Wesloh and Emily Heid assisting).
The three-year starter had one goal this year previous to this game along with 11 assists.
Mari Verbeten notched the first goal for Armstrong (and had three of their seven penalties) and Holly Enderle had the other.
The Elks had five shots on goal to Armstrong’s three in the extra session.
Elk goalie Michaela Gould stopped 22 of 24 shots and Armstrong’s Lexi Ripka stopped 29 of 31.
The Elks re 4-3-3 in the NWSC and 8-5-3 overall. The Falcons are 6-3-2 and 8-7-2.
The Elks will host Blaine on Tuesday.
