Basketball: Murray hits 31 but Royal boys lose to Forest Lake 79-76

Despite a 31-point performance by Cole Murray, the Rogers Royals lost to the Forest Lake Rangers 79-76 on Friday at the Tartan Holiday Tournament.

Murray, 6-9 junior center, also snagged 15 rebounds. Allen Wilson added 13 points and Sawyer Thompson 11.

Rogers (3-4) led by as much as eight in the second half but the Rangers (4-5) overtook them behind Connor Knutson, who scored 16 points in the second half. The Royals had problems with turnovers as the Rangers rallied. A 3-pointer to tie a the buzzer went in and out.

Rogers will face Centennial in the consolation bracket on Saturday at 2:45 p.m. at Tartan, located in Oakdale.
