A young Detroit Lakes team handed Zimmerman a 67-62 loss on Friday evening in Zimmerman.
Junior guard Christian Hedstrom scored 22 points to lead the Lakers (5-3), who have only one senior. With a tenacious man-to-man defense, they led 31-21 at halftime and by as much as 18 in the second half. Hedstrom fouled out late in the game.
Kristian Bright scored 17, Tyler Theisen 14 and Derek Williams 12 for Zimmerman (6-4), which got as close as five down the stretch.
The Thunder’s next game will be at Hermantown on Jan. 4.
