Sherper also has been active in the RSVP program, especially Bookends. Bookends is a group that goes to local elementary schools to share interpretive readings of children’s books. She had acted as a moderator to help the children understand the books and how they relate to their own lives. She has adapted a number of books into dialogue format for interpretive reading appropriate for children, including a script developed from Charles Lindberg’s 400-page book about his solo flight to Paris.

Sherper was also involved in many volunteer activities before moving to Elk River in 1969.

She was honored at the Dec. 16 Elk River City Council meeting.
