Krista Kovar won all four events, with Katie Fleck close behind, as the unbeaten Elk River-Rogers-Zimmerman gymnasts defeated Anoka 137.55 to 114.325 at home Tuesday evening.

The Elks are 3-0, all in conference, extending the program’s win streak to 45 straight duals.

“Krista and Katie have been looking pretty good,” said coach Jackie Deiley about her top two veterans.

Kovar totaled 35.925 points, while Fleck had 34.975 and placed second in three events.  Corynn Stelflug was third all-around with 33.225.

The Elks best event was vault (35.575).

“Vault is definitely, as a team, our strongest event,” said Deiley, noting that her top five are throwing a yurchenko, two tuck tsukahara’s, a handspring full-twist, and two half-twist-on, half-twist-off’s.

The Elks will split into two squads on Saturday when they host a small invitational beginning 11 a.m. The Elk River and Rogers contingents will compete separately, as they do in sectionals. Also on hand will be Anoka, Irondale and Princeton.

The Elks have improved their score each meet, from 134.7 against Maple Grove to 136.3 against Champlin Park to 137.55 against Anoka. Deiley said the team is developing harder skills in pursuit of a sixth straight conference title.

“We have been working really hard, and we are ready for Christmas break,” said Deiley.
