Hockey: No. 3 ranked Elk boys defeat Osseo 8-4

Elk River-Zimmerman stayed unbeaten with an 8-4 victory over the winless Osseo Orioles on Saturday evening in Osseo.

The Elks, 3-0 in conference and 5-0 overall, are now ranked No. 3 in Class AA behind Blaine and Hill-Murray. They moved up two notches after beating Duluth East on Thursday.

Alex Schwab, Andrew Zerban and Chase Springman knocked in two goals each, with Jake Jaremko and Peter Jones notching one each. The Elks were 2-for-2 on power plays with Schwab and Zerban delivering those goals.

Jaremko made three assists. Colton Budreau, Peter Jones and Matt Kierstad assisted on two goals each. Dylan Bouten, Schwab and Springman had one assist each.

Ben Christopherson had the hat trick for Osseo (0-4 conference, 0-5-1 overall). Brendan Hoben had the other goal.

Elk backup goalie Joey Grillo stopped 16 of 20 shots, while Osseo’s Connor Dahlberg stopped 21 of 29.

Jaremko and Zerban lead the Elks with six goals each. Jaremko has 10 assists and leads the Elks with 16 points.

will play three straight evenings in the Edina Holiday Classic against No. 5 Eden Prairie on Thursday, No. 6 Edina on Friday and No. 14 Grand Rapids on Saturday.
