Basketball: Press helps Spectrum girls beat Mounds Park 43-29

The Spectrum girls dominated the second half and handed Mounds Park Academy their first loss 43-29 on Thursday evening in St. Paul.

Brynn Bozich sank 14 points, including two 3-pointers and three free shots down the stretch to help the Sting (3-2) put it away. Rachel Stevenson scored 10 points and Noelle Diekman nine.

Mounds Park Academy (3-1) led 21-18 at the half. The Sting came out with a trapping defense that created multiple turnovers in the second half and outscored the hosts 25-8.

Rachel Goldsmith was the defensive spark with four steals and six blocks. Macie Burns helped clinch the win with back-to-back steals late in the game.

The Sting overcame early foul trouble with two of the taller players fouling out early in the second half.

The Sting will host North Lakes Academy on Tuesday.
