Open house set on update of city’s comprehensive plan

A public open house for the Elk River comprehensive plan update is set for 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at City Hall, 13065 Orono Parkway.

It will run from 5 to 7 p.m. with a presentation at 5 p.m. There will be time to discuss aspects of the plan with the consultant and staff members after the presentation, according to Jeremy Barnhart, Elk River deputy director of community operations and development.

The city of Elk River is in the process of updating its 2004 Comprehensive Plan. This is a plan created by the community to guide future growth, redevelopment and improvements efforts.

Barnhart said to date, a Community Advisory Committee has completed preliminary review of all of the sections. With the input from the open house, the consultant will be preparing a final draft for review by the committee in January, with review by the boards and commissions in February.
