Hockey: Marchand sparks Royal boys past Chisago Lakes 3-1

Spencer Marchand scored twice as the unbeaten Rogers Royals won 3-1 over a Chisago Lakes team that’s been playing well on Thursday evening at home.

Marchand punctured the net in the first and third periods, and Jacob Walker scored in the second period. Alexander Lorman assisted on all three goals. Matt Hellickson also assisted on the first two and Travis Brown on the third.

Rogers, 2-0 in the Mississippi 8 and 4-0-1 overall, peppered the Wildcat net with 15 shots and gave up just 15 shots. Jackson Nelson was in goal for the win.

Jake Dubuse made 47 saves and Brandon Gillespie had the goal for the Wildcats (1-1, 5-2).

Rogers will play at North Branch on Saturday, 8 p.m.
