Hockey: Rogers boys stalemate with Anoka 5-5

The unbeaten Rogers Royals withstood a third-period rally by Anoka and knotted the Tornadoes 5-5 on Tuesday evening in Anoka.

Travis Brown, senior defenseman, got the final goal to salvage the tie for Rogers (3-0-1) after Anoka (1-2-1) scored three straight goals in the third period to take a 5-4 lead.
In the overtime, Rogers had four shots on goal and Anoka two.

Nate Weber (power play), Jacob Walker, Jason Roberge and Dustin Schoepke had the other Rogers goals. Brandon Cecil assisted on three goals, Spencer Marchand two, and Weber, Roberge, Brown, Alexander Lorman and Matt Hellickson one each.

Scoring for Anoka were Blake Neumann, Taylor O’Neill, Travis Mashuga, Michael Talbot and Trevor Smith.

Rogers used two goalies, with Brock Maxwell giving up 5 goals in 11 shots, and Jackson Nelson finishing with a 13-for-13 slate. Robbie Goor stopped 30 of 35 for Anoka.

Rogers will host Chisago Lakes on Thursday.
