Eugene Sellon

Eugene Gene L. Sellon died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at River Region Medical center at the age of 75.
He was born in Elk River, Mn. and graduated from Elk River High School. He played football, baseball, basketball, and ran track where he held a record for many years.
He was preceded in death by parents Kenneth and Grace Sellon.
Survivors include his wife Jacqueline, children Rance, Tammy, Troy, Serena and Elizabeth, stepchildren Ryan, Christina, Anthony and Kathlina, five grandchildren, three sisters Joanne and Barbara in Elk River and Ardeth in Billings, Mont., many nephews, nieces and friends.
Gene was a member of the Eagle Lake Methodist Church in Vicksburg, Miss., where a memorial service was held Nov. 25, 2013.
He was an avid outdoorsman, loving both fishing and woodworking, living each day as if it were his last.
He served in the military for 22 years, enlisting in the U.S. Air Force after high school for 4 years and then in the U.S. Army for 18 years. He served two tours in Vietnam flying the cobra helicopters and received many awards including the Distinguished Flying Cross for heroism in Vietnam in June 1969.
