Hockey: Two-goal burst lifts Elk girls over Rebels 3-1

With two third-period goals less than two minutes apart, the Elk River-Zimmerman girls pulled out a 3-1 win over Champion Park at home Tuesday evening.

The Elks (2-3-1) trailed 1-0 until Samantha Westgaard scored at 5:53 and McKenna Wesloh at 7:48, both on scrums in front of the net. Haley Williams added an empty netter on a long wrist shot.

Abbie Canton notched two assists.

Michaela Gould made 23 saves in her varsity debut.

Kaleigh Martinson had the goal for Champlin Park (1-4).
