An Otsego family has been displaced by a house fire two days before Thanksgiving.

The Elk River Fire Department was called at about 4 p.m. on Nov. 26 to a report of a fire in the 8600 block of Palmgrean Avenue Northeast in Otsego. While en-route, fire crews were advised of multiple calls confirming a working fire and mutual aid from Albertville was started.

Elk River firefighters battle a blaze in lower level of an Otsego home Tuesday evening.

The fire, which originated in the lower level of the house, was extinguished and crews ventilated the house. Although the fire was limited to the lower level, there was smoke damage throughout the home, Elk River Fire Chief John Cunningham said.

The home was occupied at the time of the fire and all parties were able to evacuate.

One civilian suffered injuries which are not considered life threatening at this time.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.

Cunningham said it’s tough when these things happen around the holidays,  but he said the important thing is everyone made it out alive.

“That we can be thankful for,” he said.
