The Rogers Dance Team opened the season with a first-place finish in a conference jazz meet on Monday at Chisago Lakes.
“They came out very strong,” said coach Meg Leonard. “We are dancing with a majority of rookies on the varsity level this year, and you would have never know that with the performance the girls gave.”
The RDT scored 343, compared to its season-ending section score of 353 last year.
“To already being scoring that high first time out is very exciting for what will come this year,” said the coach.
The Mississippi 8 has expanded with the addition of three teams this year, so this was a seven-team meet. The standings were Rogers, Chisago Lakes, St. Francis, North Branch, Monticello, Buffalo, and Big Lake.
Next for Rogers is the Maple Grove Invitational on Saturday, and a conference meet at Monticello on Monday,
