Brooke Borchardt, Zimmerman’s all-time leader in kills and kill blocks, signed a letter of intent Thursday to play volleyball at Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall.
The 6-foot-1 middle hitter was one of five players signing with the Mustangs, who are 21-6 this year and were 30-3 last year.
“Brooke’s athletic ability and length will be an asset in the college game,” said coach Terry Culhane. “We feel her best volleyball will be ahead of her and she is looking forward to the challenge of college volleyball.”
Borchardt, a three-time all-conference pick, totaled 1,003 kills and 231 kill blocks in her career. This season, she led the Thunder with 328 kills, 74 kill blocks, and 79 ace serves, and was second with 187 digs.
She’s also in basketball and track, and was a section ExCEL Award winner as a junior.
