Zimmerman catcher Gabby Antolak has signed a letter of intent to play softball with University of Minnesota-Crookston, announced UMC coach Ed Deugan.

Antolak hit .459 with 21 runs-batted-in as a junior with the Thunder and made no errors, then hit .416 for her club team.

“I like to carry two catchers on the roster,” said Deugan, “and by bringing Gabby we will have another option along with Brooke Timmins, who will be a junior when Gabby begins her career.”

He added, “Gabby will be a very good player for us offensively, as well. She is a middle of the lineup type hitter. Defensively, she has a nice arm and gives us versatility in that she can play third base.”

Antolak, also a volleyball player at ZHS, plans to major in equine science.
