Organizers of the local Gifts Anonymous program plan to launch the holiday gift drive on Monday, Nov. 25. Because Thanksgiving is late this year, there will be a shorter time to collect gifts between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The organizers’ goal is to have barrels for donations of new, unwrapped gifts in the community on Nov. 25.
Cash donations are accepted at any time at the Gifts Anonymous account at The Bank of Elk River, according to Michelle Eder, one of the organizers. Additionally, people may purchase Visa gift cards at Klein Bank in Otsego and at any Bank of Elk River location. The gift cards will be given to Gifts Anonymous.
Gifts Anonymous is designed to help area families who are financially unable to provide Christmas gifts for their children. Last year the program provided gifts to 726 children and 277 families.
