Hockey: Mahtomedi downs Royal girls 3-1

The Mahtomedi Zephyrs got two goals from Emma Bartholemew and handed the Rogers Royals a 3-1 loss on Tuesday evening.

Rogers (1-1) was down 3-0 when Gabrielle Billing got them on the board with a power-play goal at 5:26 of the third period, assisted by Paetyn Levis.

Barthelomew scored even-strength in the first period and short-handed in the second period. Chrissy Rothmanner hit a power-play goal in the second period.

Mahtomedi had four penalties, Rogers three. The Zephyrs had 34 shots to Rogers’ 25. In goal were Johanna Ficcadenti for Mahtomedi (24 saves) and Michelle Klimstra for Rogers (31 saves).

Rogers (1-1) will play at Sartell-St. Stephen on Friday.
