Hockey: Royal girls open with 5-1 win over Albert Lea

The Rogers Royals got goals from five different players and defeated Albert Lea 5-1 at home in their season opener on Saturday.

Paetyn Levis, Olivia Olson, Kaitlin Braiedy, Kassie Scherling and Madison Lehn put the Royals on the scoreboard.

Levis scored on a power play, while the Royals were 6-for-6 on penalty kill.

Senior goalie Michelle Klimstra had a busy game, stopping 19 of 20 shots.

Hannah Savelkoul had the goal for the Tigers.

The Royals will meet Mahtomedi on Tuesday at St. Croix Arena in Stillwater.
