Elk River Mayor John Dietz congratulated Jean Becklin, who is the city’s Volunteer of the Month for October.

Jean Becklin was honored at Monday’s Elk River City Council meeting.

In addition to her work with CAER, it’s estimated that Becklin has made more than 1,000 bibs for Little Lambs Day Care.

She volunteers at her church with Lutheran World Relief, putting together backpacks for children going to school in other countries.

She has made 14 caps and 26 mittens for the 2013 Christmas mitten tree.

Becklin has volunteered for Meals on Wheels and for the cancer crusade.

Each year she also gives away a scholarship to an athletic student at Elk River High School through the Duane Becklin Memorial.
