Tennis: Elks’ Brown wins one at state, then loses

Meagan Brown, the Elk River eighth-grader who qualified for the state tennis meet in singles, won a match at state on Thursday morning before being stopped in the second round. Brown defeated Owatonna junior Briana Hartmann 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 at the U of M Baseline Center, then lost to Eastview sophomore Jordan Kopfer 6-2, 6-0. In her first varsity season, Brown had a 25-8 record, all at No. 1 singles.
