“Lucas qualified. He’s capable of running better than that,” said coach Mike Niziolek.

Trapp will run at state Saturday, Nov. 2, at St. Olaf College in Northfield. He placed 74th last year, and third among eight freshman.

Zach Glasgow, a junior, capped his rookie season off cross country placing 20th (17:04).

“Zach had an outstanding season,” said Niziolek. “To run a 17:04 at section your first year, that is impressive.”

Breck Hickman, a senior, was  22nd (17:09). Other counting scores were by sophomore Corey Warner in 50h (18:03) and senior Jeremy Hanson in 57th (18:20) among 109 runners.

Cloquet was team champion, with Chisago Lakes second, both advancing to state. Chisago Lakes had the individual winner, senior Andy Magnuson, in 16:11.
