For professional anglers, ice fishing is serious stuff, states a press release from Clam Outdoors, which is hosting a symposium in Rogers on Thursday, Oct. 24.
“Put away any notions of calm quiet afternoons on the ice,” stated Kelly Plummer, spokesman for Clam Outdoors. “Never mind the sunrises and sunsets and certainly don’t ever call it a hobby. For pro anglers, ice fishing is serious business.”
More than 100 pro ice anglers from nine states and Canada will be on hand to share their knowledge, test gear and “celebrate their hard work in recent years to make ice fishing a sport whose popularity over the past several years has skyrocketed,” the press release states.
The event is not open to the public. It is for Clam pros and interested media.
Among the pro anglers will be Chris Granrud of Rogers and Terry Tuma of Montgomery.
The schedule includes a welcome and 2013-14 season preview from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., new product training and Q and A from 2:30 to 5 p.m., and dinner and social at 5 p.m.
Clam Outdoors, an outdoor gear company based in Medina, is opening a 150,000-square foot headquarters in Rogers, on Brockton Lane, north of County Road 81, with a grand opening tentatively scheduled for next spring, Plummer stated.
