The Elk River football team coasted 41-6 over the Park Center Pirates in its conference finale at home Wednesday evening.
Denis Bardashevskiy scored three touchdowns and totaled 167 yards in 17 carries. Zach Ernst and Josh Hinkemeyer also ran for touchdowns, and Austin Larson caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Trent Pink.
Larson was 5-for-5 on conversion kicks and made five tackles and an interception on defense. Nate Collins made two sacks and Garrett Van Eps made one. Josh Wiczek led with 11 tackles.
Will Hoff gained 83 yards in 10 carries, Pink gained 50 in seven carries, Hinkeyemer 36 in five carries and Ernst 33 in eight carries as the Elks totaled 413 ground yards.
The Elks finished the regular season 2-6 and are likely to be seeded fifth in Section 6, Class 5A, and open playoffs Tuesday at Monticello (5-3), said coach Steve Hamilton. The Elks were seeded fifth last year and won the section.
Park Center has a 2-6 record but was coming off a 16-7 victory over an Andover team that beat the Elks 35-20.
“Park Center had the two best linebackers and two best cornerbacks we’ve seen,” said Hamilton. “They have some very good athletes. But I think we were a horrible matchup for them. Andover’s game is to spread them out, and they play well against that. We had some really good push up front. It was the best we’ve played this year.”
Bardashevskiy finished the regular season with 1,413 yards and 11 touchdowns.
