Soccer: Zimmerman girls tip Eveleth-Gilbert 2-0 for 3rd straight win

The Zimmerman Thunder have a three-game win streak, all on the road, after clipping Eveleth-Gilbert 2-0 on the Iron Range on Saturday.

Jamie Pensinger scored in the 22nd minute, unassisted, and Cami Bond made it 2-0 in the 69th minute, assisted by Amanda Sahr.

Coach Jeff Downing said the team played pretty well but need to be sharper on Tuesday when they host St. Cloud Cathedral in a conference game.

“It is good to be above .500 in the second half of the season,” said Downing.

The Thunder are 6-5-1 after beating Big Lake, St. John’s Prep, and Eveleth-Gilbert in succession. They’re 2-1-1 in the Granite Ridge Conference. Cathedral is the league leader at 5-0.
