Cross country: Spectrum girls 2nd in Class A at Milaca Mega Meet

The Spectrum girls placed second among 28 teams in the Class A race at the Milaca Mega Meet on Saturday.

Trinity at River Ridge had four of the top nine runners and won handily with 55 points, with Spectrum next at 124 and Benson-Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg third with 184.

Eighth-grader Elizabeth Hackbarth led the Sting, placing 10th in 15:43. Senior Kayla Zimmerman was 12th (15:57), senior Becca Peterson 16th (16:05), junior Brittany Waterhouse 23rd (16:17), and junior Marissa Kuik 63rd (17:31).

Redwood Valley junior Kayla Huhnerkoch was individual winner with 14:46.

Next meet for Spectrum is the Rogers/Elk River Invitational in Rogers on Oct. 3.

Sting boys 17th

The Spectrum boys placed 17th among 31 teams. Eighth-grader Zach Anderson was 31st (18:05), eighth-grader Nevin Sagstetter 77th (19:06), sophomore Nate Hackbarth  97th (19:36), freshman Joel Zimmerman 137th (20:37) and junior Gary Leshvosky 152nd (21:14).

Long Prairie-Grey-Eagle was champion and Redwood Valley senior Ryan Phillips was first individually with 16:23.
