Maddie Jacob delivered the first and last goals of the match as the Zimmerman Thunder won 4-0 at St. John’s Prep on Thursday.
“Getting injured players back has allowed us to bring Maddie up from the back,” said Thunder coach Jeff Downing. “Her impact has been positive already and as she settles in to this role she will be troublesome for our opponents.”
Jacob scored in the fourth minute assisted by Jamie Pensinger. Hailey Artmann made it 2-0 in the 27th minute, assisted by Jacobs. Lexi Lowe racked up the third goal in the 62nd minute, assisted by Anne Rademacher. Jacob finished the scoring unassisted in the 78th minute.
The Thunder improved to 2-1-1 in the conference and 5-5-1 overall. SJP dropped to 0-4 conference and 0-5-1 overall.
“We are continuing to develop with possession play,” said the coach. “This was not our best game but still many things done well and signs of growth throughout.”
He added that several players are scoring threats, including defenders who are learning when and how to make advancing runs.
The Thunder play their fourth road game in six six days on Saturday at Eveleth-Gilbert.
