Updated: Zimmerman man injured in crash on County Road 4

A Zimmerman man was injured Friday, Sept. 13, following a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of County Road 4 and 112th Street in Livonia Township.

According to Sherburne County Sheriff Joel Brott, the accident occurred just after 3:00 p.m.

Ignacio Ortigosa, 47 of Zimmerman, was trapped and unconscious in his vehicle following the crash. He was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in good condition at 3 p.m. on Sept. 17.

The other driver, Michael Trebby, 23 of Isanti, was uninjured.

The cause remains under investigation.

The Zimmerman and Livonia Fire District were among agencies to respond. Once en-route, dispatch notified the department one vehicle was on fire and there was emanate danger of the second vehicle catching fire with one person trapped.

“Once on scene the fire was quickly extinguished and driver of the car extricated,” said Zimmerman/Livonie Fire Chief Ryan Maloney.

Prior to the fire department arriving on scene, the  Sherburne County Sheriff’s Department did an excellent job of using fire extinguishers to protect the vehicle of the trapped individual, Maloney said.
