Cross country: Elk boys 2nd at St. Francis meet

The Elk River boys were runners-up among 10 teams at the St. Francis Invitational on Thursday.

Chisago Lakes placed first with 56, followed by the Elks with 89 and Forest Lake with 97.

Elk sophomore Lucas Trapp placed second in 16:45, behind St. Michael-Albertville’s Caya Chase, who won in 16:19.

The other Elk counting scores were Breck Hickman in 11th place (17:48), Zach Glasgow 18th (18:04), Alex Holm 33rd (18:16) and Cory Warner 35th (18:39).

Jeremy Hansen, who runs anywhere from second to fourth for the Elks, missed the meet on doctor’s orders. He was unable to finish the Hopkins race Sept. 4 due to dehydration and was taken to the hospital from the race. Coach Mike Niziolek expects him back for the next meet.

Next for the Elks is the Milaca Mega Meet on Saturday, Sept. 21.
