Cross country: Sting girls win Rockford meet, have top 3 runners

The Spectrum girls had the top three runners and decisively won the nine-team Rockford Invitational on Thursday.

The Sting boys placed eighth.

Sting senior Kayla Zimmerman won in 16:15 with senior Rebecca Peterson second (16:20) and 8th-grader Elizabeth Hackbarth third (16:21).

The Sting were way in front with 26 points while Becker was next at 73 and Providence Academy third at 86.

Spectrum also had junior Brittney Waterhouse in seventh place (17:09) and sophomore Marissa Kuick 13th (17:52).

The Sting boys placed eighth with Delano coming out on top. Adam Armbruster of Delano was first into the chute with a time of 17:03.

Spectrum 8th-grader Zackary Anderson placed eighth in 19:22. Other counting scores were sophomore Nathaniel Hackbarth in 32nd (20:08), 8th-grader Nevin Sagstetter 33rd (20:24), 8th-grader Ben Harvey 45th (21:25), and Josh Hoehn 46th (21:26).

Next for Spectrum is the Trinity at River Ridge meet on Thursday, Sept. 12.
