Cross country: Royal boys 6th, girls 9th at Monticello

The Rogers boys placed sixth and the girls ninth in the Monticello Invitational on Thursday.

“A lot of our kids were disappointed in their times,” said coach Chad Kreuser. “I thought they ran well considering how hot it was. It was about 83 and seemed warmer.”

Hutchinson won the boys 11-team competition, beating runner-up STMA 50 to 77, and had the individual winner in Isaiah Barlow, who won by 53 seconds in 15:33.

Reed Parent led Rogers in ninth place with 17:10. Rogers also had Collin Young 39th (18:59), Caleb Burke 40th (18:59), Jacob Nardini 44th (19:13) and Jake Wald 46th (19:16).

The Monticello girls nipped runner-up Marshal 50 to 63 for first place among 10 teams. STMA’s Rachel King was individual winner in 14:47.

Jackie Lindfors led Rogers in 18th place (16:47). Brittney Dorn was next in 34th (17:46).

Next Rogers meet is Lakeville North on Friday, Sept. 13.
