Swimming: Elks 2nd in close 3-team meet; new coaches make debut

The ERZ swimmers placed second in a close three-team conference meet at home Tuesday evening.

Armstrong nipped the Elks 114-113 with Blaine right behind at 100 in the VandenBerge pool.

It was the coaching debut for Luke and Liz Johnson, new head coach and assistant coach who missed the Elks first two meets while honeymooning.

Alaina Sylvester had the lone first-place for the Elks, taking the 200 medley. She was second in breaststroke. Ally Sterneman was second in the 50 and 100 sprints.

The Elks (1-2) will swim at Maple Grove on Thursday, Sept. 12.
