Volleyball: North Branch nips Elks in five

Elk River volleyball dropped a close five-game match to North Branch on Thursday evening. The Vikings prevailed 25-27, 25-21, 23-25, 25-14, 15-12.

The Elks (0-2) didn’t get a strong attackĀ  going as they had 31 kills along with 31 hitting errors. Gina Honek notched eight kills and Kelly Kolles seven.

The Elks served 86-for-98 with 11 aces. Kaitlyn Pearson was 16-for-19 with four aces, leading to 12 points, and Kayla Grimm 17-for-18 with three aces, leading to 11 points. Becca Brummer had 17 digs, and Kelsey Owens and Alix Zierden 10 each.

The Elks will host Centennial on Tuesday.
