Logan Daulton started her fourth varsity season with two goals and Toni Bailey also scored as Elk River blanked Buffalo 3-0 on the season opener Thursday evening.

Daulton had 22 goals her first three years and quickly added to that total as she took a feed from Madyson St. Germain and scored on a breakaway in the seventh minute.

Bailey, sophomore mid, got her first varsity goal on a shot that hit the far post and caromed into the net. Daulton made it 3-0 before halftime, again assisted by St. German, this time a pass over the top near the net.

The Elks enjoyed the big early lead and cruised in the second half. Meagan Marsh, senior goaltender in her first year as a starter, got the shutout behind a stout defensive effort.

“Our defense did a good job as a whole and limited them to only a couple good shots,” said coach Brian Steuter.

The Elks will play at Wayzata on Tuesday, 7 p.m.
