Bunker, ex-Elk wrestler, to make MMA debut in Anoka

by Bruce Strand, Sports editor

Jacob Bunker, former Elk River wrestler, will make his amateur Mixed Martial Arts debut on Saturday evening at the Anoka Armory, announced promoter Jim Clark.

Bunker, a college student who has done well in several Jui jitsu tournaments, is nicknamed “Viking” in MMA, said Clark. He will face a Californian with a 1-1 record. Nine bouts are on the card, which starts 7 p.m. Bunker will be the second or third bout, Clark said.

Clark, also a former Elk wrestler, is an MMA amateur fighter himself in his 40’s, with an 8-4 record. He won’t be on this card, though.

Clark bought an MMA promotion company called Valhalla Cagefighting which is promoting this event. He promoted one previous event, in Foley.
