Alfred J. Acker, age 78 of Zimmerman, passed away after a prolonged illness on Aug 7, 2013.

Preceded in death by his parents Frank and Tharscilla; siblings Art, Jean, Barbara, Catherine, Clara, Richard, and Larry.

Survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Judith; children Kyle (Tracy), Wade (Lori), Matt (Jodi), Molly (Jimmy) LeGarde and Jennifer Acker; grandchildren Ryan, Alex, Kate, Amelia, Elias, Chloe, Sam, and Ava.

Also survived by his siblings Laura, Harold, Joan, Donny, Tommy, Mike, Peggy, Maureen and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Al enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. They always put a smile on his face. He was a life-long horse enthusiast. He enjoyed coaching youth hockey and baseball. 

He was the founder of Acker Dry-Wall.  Upon retiring he passed the business to his son Wade and became a Wal-Mart greeter at Elk River for 10 years.

Alfred was also an Army veteran stationed in Germany.

Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at Christ our Light Catholic Church South (formerly St. Pius X), 25909 4th St. W, Zimmerman.

Visitation 1 hour prior to Mass at church on Tuesday.

Interment St. Pius X cemetery, Zimmerman.
