Police report: Underage drinking party busted up, driver racking up fines, home burglary

Speakers, liquor stolen in home burglary

A 41-year-old Elk River man reported to police that an unknown person or persons entered his residence in the 10000 block of 187th Avenue through a rear unsecured basement window and stole speakers and liquor. Police are investigating.

The burglary happened between 10:30 p.m. July 20 and 9:20 a.m. July 21.

Pair cited for theft at Cub Foods 

Elk River Police cited a 32-year-old Otsego woman and a 17-year-old Otsego male for theft on July 21 at Cub Foods in the 19000 block of Freeport Street.

Grocery store security witnessed the adult steal $199.12 in merchandise and the juvenile steal $22.38 in merchandise. Both parties were cited and released. A parent of the juvenile was also notified.

Elk River man, 22, cited for possession 

Elk River Police cited a 22-year-old Elk River man for possession of drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana shortly before 2 a.m. July 21 after an officer stopped him for being in Orono Park after hours.

Elk River Police find crashed motorcycle 

Elk River Police on the afternoon of July 20 located a motorcycle, which appeared to have been in a crash, in a ditch off of Line Avenue near Main Street.

The motorcycle had visible body damage and blood on the tank and faring.

Efforts were made to contact the registered owner but were unsuccessful until the following day, when the owner called police and identified the man who was allegedly driving, Elk River Police Capt. Bob Kluntz said.

Police have attempted to contact the driver without success.

Underage drinking party busted up 

Elk River Police busted up a party July 20 in the 20000 block of Zumbro Court.

Becker Police working a CRASH detail had stopped multiple cars coming from that address, and it was determined that an underage drinking party was occurring.

When Elk River officers arrived at the residence, several underage parties were observed in the front yard and on the back deck.

Officers were given consent to enter the residence by homeowners’ son. Several parties were cited for minor consumption.

Multiple citations were given out to numerous people from Elk River, Blaine, Andover, New Hope, Anoka, Chisago City, Coon Rapids, Lino Lakes and Ham Lake.

Most were cited for underage consumption and the party host was charged with a social host violation.

Driver racking up fines for driving 

A 34-year-old Elk River man was cited July 19 for driving after suspension.

Elk River Police stopped the man, whom they recognized from previous stops resulting in driving after suspension citations, near the intersection of Highway 10 and Main Street.

An officer ran a check and found the man’s licence was still suspended and he had 12 unpaid fines, totaling $3,393.

St. Francis man arrested for heroin

An 18-year-old St. Francis man was arrested for narcotics violations after being found July 17 with marijuana and heroin.

Police received a call of a drug complaint at an address in the 1200 block of School Street. Officers located the party described by the complainant and made observations of drug use and possession. The man was searched and narcotics were located. He was arrested and booked at jail.

Money within proximity to the narcotics was forfeited.
