Four young ladies captured Elk River Idol prizes on July 4 in competition at Lions Park in Elk River.
Kenzie Miller, 13, got the People’s Choice Award. She sang “The Story of Us,” a Taylor Swift song. She is a home-schooled student.
Jenna Nielsen, 15, sang Adelle’s “Rollin’ in the Deep” and got first prize for the ages 15-and-up bracket. She is an Elk River resident who attends Blaine High School.
Mia Olson, 10, at right, sang a Bruno Mars song, “When I Was Your Man.” The Otsego Elementary student got first prize for ages 7-10.
Olivia Robinson, 12, of Zimmerman, far right, sang a Christian version of “Somewhere, Over the Rainbow,” a cappella. She won the 11-14 age group.
Twelve kids originally auditioned, and nine were chosen to perform at the July 4 event, organized by Kristi Waite of Elk River Community Education.
